School Overview
The school climate at Pomo is a source of pride for our staff, students, and families. Working together as a team, our teachers and support staff ensure that every child receives excellent, meaningful instruction. We work diligently to implement the Common Core State Standards while developing the 21st Century Skills our students need to thrive in an ever-changing world.
To support the highest quality teaching, we have structured our schedule to include regular early dismissal days for students and dedicated collaboration time for staff. These sessions give our instructional team the opportunity to engage in focused professional development — work that pays off directly in the classroom for every learner.
Our Mission
The goal of Pomo School is to help students become safe, respectful, responsible individuals while developing a lifelong passion for knowledge. Learning at Pomo is a combined effort — one that involves students, families, community members, and school staff working in partnership. Together, we strive to provide a successful learning experience in a safe and supportive environment.
Our academic program is built on active instruction, a research-based curriculum, and a comprehensive assessment system. We believe that real education doesn't just deliver knowledge — it develops critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the curiosity to keep learning long after the school day ends.

Our School-Wide Behavior Program: PBIS
At Pomo, we believe that a safe, positive school environment is the foundation for learning. Our school-wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program provides a consistent, caring framework for behavior across every part of our campus — classrooms, hallways, the cafeteria, and the playground. Three simple rules guide everything we do:
Be Safe
Be Respectful
Be Responsible
Alongside PBIS, our commitment to Visible Learning ensures that students understand their own goals and that teachers use proven, evidence-based strategies to make instruction clear and impactful. Together, these approaches create an environment where students feel secure, engaged, and empowered to take ownership of their learning.
Supporting Every Student
No two students are alike, and we take that seriously. Our staff regularly meets to review academic, behavioral, and attendance data for each child. This ongoing collaboration allows us to respond quickly when a student needs additional support — and to provide challenges and leadership opportunities for students who are ready to go further.
Families are an essential part of this process. You are the expert when it comes to your children, and we actively welcome your feedback and participation. The partnership between home and school is one of the most powerful tools we have.
