KUSD offers a comprehensive counseling program district-wide for students in grades TK-12. Our team of specialists collaborates with parents, students, educators, and community professionals to ensure success in learning and prepare students for life's challenges.
Our Counseling Team
Our elementary counselors provide academic, personal/social, career and college/vocational counseling services for our elementary school students. They work with students in their formative years, helping them develop essential life skills and a love for learning.
Services include:
- Academic support and study skills development
- Personal and social skills building
- Early career exploration and interest discovery
- College and vocational awareness activities
- Emotional regulation and coping strategies
- Peer relationships and friendship skills
Our secondary counselors offer academic, personal/social, career, and college/vocational counseling services to our high school students. They offer specialized support as students navigate adolescence and prepare for their post-secondary goals.
Services include:
- Academic planning and course selection
- Personal and social development support
- Career exploration and planning
- College preparation and application assistance
- Vocational training and certification guidance
- Graduation requirements and pathway planning
Our licensed mental health professionals address social-emotional barriers to learning and provide therapy/counseling to students exposed to trauma, those demonstrating significant deficits in social-emotional skills, and/or students identified with mental health disorders.
Services include:
- Trauma-informed therapy and counseling
- Social-emotional skill development
- Mental health disorder support and intervention
- Crisis intervention and safety planning
- Individual and group therapy sessions
- Behavioral intervention and coping strategies
