Migrant Education Services
The Migrant Education Program ensures that all children of mobile farmworkers and fishers reach challenging academic standards and graduate with a high school diploma (or complete a HSED) that prepares them for responsible citizenship, further learning, and productive employment.
Program Description
Our program provides high-quality education services specifically designed for migratory children and their families. We work to ensure that students who move between states are not disadvantaged by differences in curriculum, graduation requirements, or academic standards.
Federal funds support our efforts to provide appropriate educational and supportive services that address the special needs of migratory children, ensuring they have full opportunities to meet the same challenging academic standards expected of all students.
This federally funded program serves eligible migratory children ages 3 through 21, with funding allocated based on each state's per-pupil expenditure and counts of eligible children.
Does Your Family Qualify
Answer these two simple questions:
- Has any member of your family worked in agriculture, livestock, fishing or logging in the last three years?
- Did your family move to the town/city where you live in the last three years?
If you answered "YES" to both questions, your child could be eligible to receive educational services from the Migrant Education Program!
