School Site Council
The School Site Council (SSC) serves as the representative voice of the East Lake Elementary community, playing a vital role in shaping our school's academic instructional program and the allocation of related categorical resources. The council brings together parents, staff, and community members to make meaningful decisions about how our school functions and how we support student success.
Purpose & Mission
The legislative intent behind School Site Councils is clear: those who are most affected by the operation of a school should have a major role in decisions about how the school functions. Education is a joint effort of parents, teachers, administrators, and other school staff — all working together toward the common goal of success for every student.
At East Lake Elementary, our School Site Council embodies this collaborative spirit by ensuring that multiple perspectives are heard and valued in decisions that impact our students, staff, and families.
Council Composition
School Site Councils are comprised of two equal groups:
- School staff representatives: including the principal and other staff members
- Parent, student, and community representatives: ensuring family and community voices are central to decision-making
This balanced structure ensures that all stakeholders have an equal voice in shaping the direction of our school.
Meeting Schedule
The East Lake Elementary School Site Council meets three times per year. Meeting dates, times, and agendas will be posted on the school website and shared through school communications. All meetings are open to the public, and we encourage community members to attend.
