Music Program
At East Lake Elementary, we believe music is an essential part of a well-rounded education. Our music program is woven into every student's school day, giving all students the opportunity to develop creativity, confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
Daily Music Instruction
Every grade level at East Lake Elementary receives 30 minutes of music instruction each day. Daily music education helps students develop listening skills, rhythm, coordination, teamwork, and self-expression — benefits that extend well beyond the music classroom and support learning across all subjects.
Winter Concert
Each year, our students come together to perform in our beloved Winter Concert. Families and community members are invited to celebrate the season and enjoy the musical talents of our students. The Winter Concert is a wonderful opportunity for students to share what they have been working on and experience the joy of performing together.
Details for this year's Winter Concert will be announced closer to the event. Stay tuned to your weekly communications and the school website event calendar for dates, times, and location.
Spring Concert
Our Spring Concert is the highlight of the musical year at East Lake Elementary. Students perform the songs, pieces, and programs they have developed throughout the year, and families are invited to come out and celebrate their hard work and growth as musicians.
Details for this year's Spring Concert will be announced closer to the event. Stay tuned to your weekly communications and the school website event calendar for dates, times, and location.
Why Music Matters
Research consistently shows that regular music education supports children's overall development. Students who participate in music programs demonstrate stronger skills in areas such as:
- Listening and focus — following along, staying attentive, and responding to cues
- Math and language arts — rhythm and pattern recognition support numeracy and literacy
- Social skills — learning to work together and listen to one another as an ensemble
- Confidence and self-expression — finding their voice and sharing it with others
- Emotional development — processing and expressing feelings through creative outlets
