About Academic Mentoring Program (AMP)

Purpose

AMP encourages students to find success academically. It helps target students who may need additional support, guidance, and/or check-ins. AMP helps decrease the amount of failing students during the pandemic and distance learning while increasing the number of positive interactions students have with staff.

Targeted Students

• Students who are struggling to turn in work online during distance learning
• Students who are struggling to engage academically during distance learning
• Students who are attending school but not finding academic success

How Mentors Support AMP Students

• Weekly check-ins with students
  • Phone calls, Google meets, in-person meetings (when pre-approved by site administration)
• Monitoring Google Classroom and assignments turned in
• Monitoring Lexia & Symphony math for units/minutes
• Checking in with teachers to work collaboratively to support students

AMP Mentor Expecations

• Check in at least once a week with students
• Track weekly meetings/student progress through the shared spreadsheet
• Input progress monthly on Aeries under interventions
• Communicate with teachers/administrators
• Attend monthly AMP meetings with administrators
• Build a relationship that is positive and supportive with students
• Celebrate student successes both big and small
