Important: Please contact us on the day of the absence or send a note when your child returns to school. This helps us keep accurate records!
Why Attendance Matters
Regular school attendance is required by law and is essential for your child's academic success. Research shows that students with good attendance perform better academically, develop stronger social connections, and are more likely to graduate.
Excused Absences
- Illness
- Medical appointments
- Dental appointments
Note: Excused absences still count toward attendance records
Unexcused Absences
- No parent contact made
- No note provided
- Non-qualifying reasons
These can affect participation in school activities.
Parent Responsibility
Important: If the school is not contacted by the parent, the absence or tardy will be marked as "unexcused." An unexcused absence because a parent forgets to call or does not follow up will remain unexcused on the student's record.
This can be frustrating when attendance records later prevent your student from attending school activities or functions. To avoid this, please keep the school informed of any attendance issues immediately. It is the parent's responsibility to ensure children attend school and maintain proper attendance.
Tardiness Policy
School starts at 8:15 AM. Please help your child arrive on time every day!
If Your Student is Tardy
- Arrive After the Bell
Students who arrive after 8:15 AM are considered tardy and must report to the office. - Get a Tardy Slip
The office will issue a tardy slip for the student to bring to class. - Join Class
The student can then join their classroom with minimal disruption.
