English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)

The English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) is a vital group of parents, staff, and community members who advocate for the success of English Learners at Obsidian Middle School. ELAC provides input on school programs, services, and policies that directly affect English Learner students and their families.

The committee's purpose is to ensure that the voices of our multilingual families are heard and valued. ELAC reviews and advises on:

  • The school's language acquisition programs
  • Goals and data related to English Learner progress
  • Allocation of resources that support English Learners
  • Strategies to improve communication and family engagement

Your participation helps shape a more inclusive and supportive school environment. ELAC ensures that every English Learner has access to the tools and opportunities they need to thrive — academically, socially, and emotionally.

Join Us

ELAC meetings are a great way to connect with other families, stay informed, and make a difference in your child's education. All families of English Learners are encouraged to attend.

Meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of each month from 3:00–4:00 PM at the OMS Restorative Center.

For questions, please contact Erika Suarez Diaz at (707) 994-6447 ext. 2973. We would love to have you join us!
