Nikki Sabatier, Principal

Nikki Sabatier is a proud product of Lake County schools, having grown up in Lower Lake and attended Lower Lake Elementary, Oak Hill Middle School, and Lower Lake High School. She lives in Clearlake with her husband and two children, who are both students in the Konocti Unified School District.

Principal Sabatier began her career as a classroom teacher in Konocti Unified and has built her professional life around a deep commitment to students and community. Over the years, she has served as Assistant Principal at the former Konocti Education Center, Principal in the Middletown School District, and Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Konocti Unified. Returning to Obsidian Middle School as principal is, in many ways, a homecoming — and one she takes to heart.

At the core of her leadership philosophy is a simple but powerful conviction: relationships matter most. She believes that equity is not just a value to hold, but a practice to live out every day — ensuring that every student, regardless of background or circumstance, has access to the opportunities, resources, and support they deserve.

A Message from Principal Sabatier

Welcome to Obsidian Middle School — a place where students are known by name, challenged to grow, and supported every step of the way.

At OMS, we believe that great education starts with great relationships. When students feel safe, seen, and genuinely cared for, they show up ready to learn. That belief is at the heart of everything we do here — from the way our teachers build connections in the classroom to the way our staff shows up for students in the hallways, on the field, and after school.

We are proud to be a school that holds high expectations alongside deep support. Our students are capable of remarkable things, and our job is to make sure they know it — and have every opportunity to prove it. Through a rigorous, standards-based curriculum, a strong focus on social-emotional learning, and a school culture rooted in respect, responsibility, and equity, we are building something special in Lake County.

To our students: you belong here. This school was built for you, and we can't wait to see what you accomplish.

To our families: you are our partners. Your involvement, your trust, and your voice matter to us. My door is always open, and I encourage you to reach out anytime.

We are glad you're part of the Obsidian family. Together, we rock.
