Dress Code
Dressing for Success
At Lower Lake High School, we believe that how students dress contributes to the learning environment for everyone. Our dress code is designed to keep the focus on education, promote a sense of school community and pride, and ensure that all students feel safe and comfortable on campus.
Students and parents/guardians are expected to review and follow these standards. Students who do not comply may be subject to disciplinary action.
General Standards
Student clothing must meet all of the following expectations:
- Be clean and appropriate for the school setting and the activities of the school day
- Not present a health or safety hazard — clothing that could cause injury or create unsafe conditions is not permitted
- Not be a distraction that interferes with learning or the educational environment
- Not display or promote gang affiliation — clothing with logos, colors, or symbols associated with gangs is prohibited. This is a matter of student safety, not just appearance.
- Not be used to conceal items — oversized or concealing clothing such as trench coats or large bags used to hide prohibited items are not permitted
Why These Rules Matter
The Konocti USD Board of Trustees and LLHS administration take the dress code seriously because research and experience both show that what students wear affects how they — and the people around them — feel and behave at school. Schools with clear dress standards tend to have stronger school pride, better behavior, and a greater sense of community.
More practically, clothing that signals gang affiliation creates conflict, disrupts learning, and puts students at risk. Our dress standards help protect every student's right to a safe and focused learning environment.
