William Cook, Principal

Greetings! I am thrilled to serve as the Principal of Blue Heron Opportunity School, Carle' Continuation School, Highlands Academy Community Day School, and Lewis Independent Study School. It’s an honor to lead our Alternative Education programs, which hold a special place in my heart.

My Commitment to Students

I am deeply committed to supporting our students and serving the community I live in. Our Alternative Education programs are designed to offer flexible, personalized pathways that cater to each student’s unique needs, ensuring that they have the opportunity to succeed.

Our Approach

In our Alternative Education settings, we prioritize:

  • Small Class Sizes: This allows for more individualized attention and tailored instruction.
  • Academic and Social-Emotional Support: We understand that education is not just about academics; it’s also about fostering emotional well-being.
  • Regular Progress Monitoring: Students meet regularly with staff to discuss their progress toward earning credits, ensuring they stay on track.

A dedicated team of educators reviews each student's placement throughout the year, making adjustments as necessary to provide the best support possible.
