Blue Heron Opportunity High School

About Blue Heron

Welcome to Blue Heron Opportunity High School, a unique educational program dedicated to supporting students in grades 9-11. Our mission is to provide a structured and nurturing environment where students can regain their academic footing, develop essential skills, and prepare for a successful transition back to a traditional school setting.

Blue Heron School serves as an opportunity program for students who require a different educational path. Placement in our program is typically involuntary and results from decisions made by the Konocti Unified placement committee or expulsion. Students may also be transferred from other districts through a “Like School to Like School” transfer.

Our Mission

Blue Heron School exists to support students during their placement by helping them get back on track academically and maintain their success after transferring to another program. We aim to create a positive, structured environment that fosters personal growth and academic achievement.

Placement Details

  • Duration: Students are generally placed for one semester plus an additional term. At the end of this period, progress is evaluated based on readmission criteria.
  • Readmission: Students who meet the criteria become eligible to enroll in Carle High School, Lower Lake High School, or an alternative program outside the district. Those who do not meet the criteria will remain at Blue Heron, with their eligibility reassessed each semester.
