About Our Alternative Education Programs
Welcome to the Konocti Unified School District’s Alternative Education programs! Our mission is to provide innovative and supportive educational opportunities for students who may benefit from a non-traditional learning environment. At KUSD, we believe every student deserves the chance to succeed, and our Alternative Education programs are designed to meet diverse needs.
Our Schools
KUSD's Alternative Education encompasses four distinct schools, each designed to serve various age groups and educational needs:
- Type: Continuation High School
- Grades: Students who are between the ages of 16 – 18 years of age and predominantly in grades 10-12.
- Overview: Carle High School offers a pathway for older students to earn their high school diploma through flexible learning options.
- Type: Opportunity School
- Grades: 9-11
- Overview: This school supports students in grades 9 through 11, providing a tailored learning environment to help them achieve their academic goals.
- Type: Community Day School
- Grades: 2-8
- Overview: Highlands Academy serves younger students, fostering personal growth and academic achievement in a supportive setting.
- Type: Independent Study
- Grades: K-12
- Overview: This program allows students from kindergarten through 12th grade to engage in personalized learning, working at their own pace with dedicated teacher support.
