 Come Home to Konocti

Thank you for visiting the Konocti Unified School District website.

Mt. Konocti is located on beautiful Clear Lake 30 miles north of the Napa Valley. The Konocti Unified School District includes the towns of Clearlake, Clearlake Oaks, and Lower Lake as well as Spring Valley and a portion of Cobb Mountain.

Certainly one of the best things about Lake County is the “down home neighborliness” of those who live here - simply put, we take care of each other. The Konocti Unified School District believes that the life-long relationships we create with our students and their families are one of our greatest strengths and achievements. We have modified our district structure to create four separate K-8 neighborhood schools. Each of these schools is the “hub” of its neighborhood, supplying education, drama and music performances, art exhibits, athletic facilities and events, nutrition, and social/family activities. We feel that, with the help of our neighborhood volunteers, we can actually provide a more complete, stronger program than ever before.

We are ready to succeed. KUSD has balanced our budget, while still maintaining small class sizes in grades K-3, keeping our elementary music and drama programs, having athletic teams at each school, and bringing back our excellent teachers and support staff. Lower Lake High School continues to have a comprehensive array of classes/programs including: honors classes, Academic Decathlon, career technical education, the SERVE Academy, an outstanding visual and performing arts department, and an athletic program that is among the best in Northern California. We are ready to “Reach New Heights.”   Together, we can provide our community and its children with the finest educational experience in Lake County.

The District Office is located next to Lower Lake High School in the original high school building built in 1928. We are working to expand the information available on our site. If you have questions or information you would like included please contact us

No Child Left Behind

The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001:

NCLB is the latest federal legislation that enacts the theories of standards-based education reform, which is based on the belief that setting high standards and establishing measurable goals can improve individual outcomes in education. The Act requires states to develop assessments in basic skills to be given to all students in certain grades, if those states are to receive federal funding for schools. The Act does not assert a national achievement standard; standards are set by each individual state.

In order to meet legislative requirements for specific state and federal programs and funding, California currently employs four major processes: the Consolidated State Application, the Local Education Agency Plan, the school-level Single Plan for Student Achievement, and the Coordinated Compliance Review.
